Ο Will Smith πήρε την πρώτη του υποψηφιότητα από τη βρετανική Ακαδημία Κινηματογράφου και Τηλεόρασης.
Τα βραβεία BAFTA ανακοίνωσαν τις υποψηφιότητες για το 2022 με πολλές εκπλήξεις που δείχνουν ότι η βρετανική Ακαδημία Κινηματογράφου και Τηλεόρασης αγκαλιάζει το diversity στις τέχνες όπως είχε υποσχεθεί το 2020.
Μπορεί όλοι να περίμεναν πως το 'No Time To Die' θα πρoπορευόταν στις υποψηφιότητες, όμως τελικά το 'Dune' πήρε υποψηφιότητες σε 11 κατηγορίες, το 'Power of the Dog' σε 8, το 'Belfast' σε έξι και ακολούθησε η νέα ταινία James Bond με 5 υποψηφιότητες.
Η Lady Gaga πήρε τη δεύτερη υποψηφιότητά της από τη βρετανική Ακαδημία για τον ρόλο της στο 'House of Gucci' μαζί με την Joanna Scanlan ("After Love”), την Emilia Jones ("Coda) την ηθοποιό από τη Νορβηγία, Renate Reinsve, που πρωταγωνιστεί στο "The Worst Person in the World”.
Ο Benedict Cumberbatch είναι υποψήφιος στην κατηγορία Α' ανδρικού ρόλου για το 'The Power of the Dog', μαζί με τον Stephen Graham, τον Adeel Akhtar ("Ali & Ava”), τον Mahershala Ali ("Swan Song”), τον Leonardo DiCaprio ("Don’t Look Up”), αλλά και τον Will Smith που πήρε την πρώτη υποψηφιότητα στα BAFTA για το "King Richard.”
Υποψηφιότητες δεν πήραν η Nicole Kidman για το 'Being the Ricardos' και η Olivia Colman για το 'The Lost Daughter', αλλά ούτε η Kristen Stewart για τον ρόλο της στην ταινία 'Spencer'.
